| For sale is this stunningly black forest-style oak-carved statue from the 19th century of a friar/monk in full robes holding a bible. The detail in the carving is exemplary and the way the robes are shown to flow and the colour variation for the interior robes is magnificent. The wood craftsman that created this piece captured the essence of the Friar/Monk and his dress. Look at the way the garment folds on itself, the bible with its pages opened by his thumb as he has been interrupted from reading to talk to someone.
