For sale is this exquisite Chinese dish with a domed lid in the Doucai hand-painted technique. It is rare to find both the dish and matching lid in excellent condition. Marked to the base with the Guangxu Reign six-character mark together with the overall look and feel date these pieces to the 19th century.
Doucai Painting Technique
A style of painting and ceramic decoration that originated in the Xunade period (15th century), Doucai (which means ‘contrasting colours’) technique is rare to find and highly prized amongst collectors.
Guangxu Reign
The Guangxu Emperor (14 August 1871 – 14 November 1908), personal name Zaitian, was the tenth Emperor of the Qing dynasty, and the ninth Qing emperor to rule over China proper. His reign lasted from 1875 to 1908
