Description
For sale is this pair of Chinese Shantou (Kut Hing) pewter tea caddies with six hand-painted panels (behind glass) with ornate frames. These tea caddies were used in the 19th century as tea was a precious commodity back then and well-to-do families would have very ornate containers to house the precious tea leaves. The craftsmanship speaks for itself with the ornate decoration of the pewter caddies and the hand-painted glass panel scenes.
