This Chinese translucent jade archers ring c18th century (Qianlong Period) has very intricate carvings of flowers and birds of flight. Archers rings were used in the Qianlong period and most were made from animal hide or bone however high ranking commanders had archer rings made of jade. The archer’s ring, worn on the tumb, helped protect the thumb against damage from the bowstring. This particular translucent jade archer’s ring was probably used by one of these high-ranking commanders simply due to its intricate and delicate carvings.
