This blue and white jar with lid has the Kangxi period twin circle mark…

For sale is this beautifully hand-painted blue and white jar with lid. The lid has three bats decorating the top and three blue circles that adorn the rim of the lid. Towards the base of the jar are twin blue circles and again on the underside of the jar. All these marks are in line with the Chinese Kangxi period dating from 1667 when the emperor issued an edict forbidding the use of his reign mark. Ceramic artisans often used empty twin blue circles during this time.

Chinese Kangxi Jar Features

The lid has three well-painted bats (bats represent good in Chinese art). These are supported by three blue circles on the side of the lid. The painted scenes on the body of the vase depict fully robed scholars on the front of the jar, while the reverse side of the main body has the design symbol often used in the Kangxi period.
